Penny Jeane Blakeley Woolley,
wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away Friday April 22, 2022 in her home in
Kaysville, Utah. She courageously fought ovarian cancer for just under 2 years. She was 75 years of
age.
Penny was born May 29, 1947 in Oakland, California, to Fred T.
Blakeley and Ruth Alta Barker Blakeley. She grew up in Ogden, Utah, attended Ogden High, and graduated from Weber
State University in 1967 with her associate degree in Nursing. She later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing from Weber State University in 1994. She was a registered nurse at Primary Children’s Medical Center in the
Infant Unit for many of her young adult years and later when her children were college
age.
Penny married D. Kent Woolley August 18, 1971 in the Salt Lake
City Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City, UT, Montrose, CO, Pocatello, ID, Layton, UT and lived the vast majority
of their married lives in Kaysville, Utah. They have four children and 15 grandchildren.
Penny had a gift for caring for and nurturing others, especially
her family. She was a great cook, loved children’s crafts, reading with her kids and grandkids, attending family
events, games and performances, going to lunch with Kent and just spending time with loved
ones.
Her family also included her cherished dogs, of which she had many
over the years. Penny was a great seamstress, fashioning her craft for quilting in her later years at the local
quilt shop creating quilts for her grandchildren, children and husband. She enjoyed her time spent with the
Utah/Idaho Dog Agility Association and the Utah Animal Adoption Center.
Penny enjoyed family history and was involved with the Daughters
of the Utah Pioneers. She loved the outdoors, hiking, gardening, walking her dogs, and spending time at the family
cabin. Some of her fondest memories growing up involved time at the cabin. Penny was an avid reader, had a zest for
learning, and attended adult religion classes for 25 years.
She was known for her time serving in The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints with the Primary children and in the Relief Society. She had a witty sense of humor,
exemplified love and compassion, was willing to serve anyone in need and always looked for the good in
others.
Penny was preceded in death by her father Fred and her mother
Ruth. She is survived by her two brothers Jeff (Shelley) and Bill (Shanna), her husband D. Kent Woolley, her four
children Michael (Katrina), Melanie (Jason), Matthew and Marci (Matthew), her 15 wonderful grandchildren and Naomi
and Sunnee, her devoted dogs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00
a.m. at the Kaysville East Stake Center, 201 So. 600 E., Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday from
6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Street, Kaysville, Utah and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30
a.m. at the Stake Center.
